Selling or closing the company
Internal tool company closing or for sale? Buyers of its data
Updated
When a company that built its own tools is sold or wound down, the apps and the work recorded in them can be licensed or sold on. The buyers say what they take on their own pages.
Who takes operating data and tools?
Mercor says it licenses, packages and pays for the data a business generates and asks the company to link its accounts from a list of over 100 supported tools. micro1 licenses data from a company's everyday operations and names CRM data, sales processes and playbooks. Nyne turns de-identified operational workflows into training data.

What if the company is closing?
SimpleClosure's AssetHub helps companies that are shutting down sell source code and workspace data to AI buyers. A company closing without a liquidator, for example by striking off, sells its records through its directors; once a liquidator is appointed, solvent or not, the directors' powers cease and the liquidator sells, as an administrator or trustee does in an insolvency, and the ownership rules decide what any of them can pass on.

What do buyers say about rights?
Maryah says licensing grants specified rights to use the data, not ownership. OpenAI's data partnership page says it is not seeking datasets with sensitive or personal information or information that belongs to a third party, which rules out most customer tables.

If you advise companies like this
Accountants, IT providers and insolvency practitioners who look after such companies can send the owner here, or fill in the form on the owner's behalf and give their own role, so we know who to answer.
